I think you should train him to act in movies, instead of butchering him. I appreciate the attention to the peaceful and humane killing of the animal. So many people get upset about how animals are slaughtered for our consumption -- I recently saw an Oprah special where they visited a slaughterhouse and showed how the cattle were processed. The audience was horrified, but the killing was actually quite humane. The animals were kept calm and rendered brain-dead before their arteries were cut. They never panicked or knew what was happening. I don't personally like to think about all the details of how the meat is processed, but truly, the animal has to be killed SOMEHOW, so why do we get angry when we hear about it, even when it is done in the most humane manner possible?

It sounds like you truly enjoy the cooking of the pig and being able to provide a delicious meal for so many people, and that you really have respect for the animals. Bravo for having the courage to post something that some might find offensive, and enjoy your delicious roast!

P.S. The pig in the picture is really quite adorable, though... I imagine as a farmer you learn to stop seeing them as cute, and to start seeing them as Y-U-M-M-Y! lolMisadventures in Motherhoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04733618217432605890noreply@blogger.com
